1．Welcome
Welcome to the 1st International Modernization Forum (IMF 2013). It will be held at China Hall of Science & Technology in Beijing, capital of China, from August 8th to 10th, 2013.
Modernization has been a worldwide phenomenon and trend since 18th century. It includes the frontier changes and international competition of modern civilization and nation. It changed people’s lives in many aspects including economic development, social progress and the environment change, etc. Modernization movement is like an international marathon game, in which the countries running ahead become advanced counties while the rest become developing countries. Modernization science seeks to promote people’s understanding of modernization process through interdisciplinary studies.
The IMF aims to promote communication and collaboration of modernization study around the world. This forum will focus on “modernization and global change”, and include five themes(more).

會議背景介紹：現(xiàn)代化是18世紀(jì)以來的一個(gè)世界現(xiàn)象和國際潮流。它包括現(xiàn)代文明的前沿變化和國際競爭，它影響了人類生活的方方面面，如經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展、社會進(jìn)步和環(huán)境變遷等。現(xiàn)代化運(yùn)動猶如一場國際馬拉松比賽，跑在前面的國家成為發(fā)達(dá)國家，跑在后面的國家成為發(fā)展中國家，兩類國家之間可以轉(zhuǎn)換。現(xiàn)代化科學(xué)通過多學(xué)科交叉研究促進(jìn)人們對現(xiàn)代化現(xiàn)象的理解。加強(qiáng)現(xiàn)代化科學(xué)研究，是中國現(xiàn)代化的一個(gè)戰(zhàn)略需要。
自2003年起，中國科學(xué)院中國現(xiàn)代化研究中心每年舉辦一次中國現(xiàn)代化研究論壇，迄今已成功舉辦10期。世界現(xiàn)代化論壇是中國現(xiàn)代化研究論壇的拓展與延伸，它將致力于推動現(xiàn)代化理論與戰(zhàn)略研究，促進(jìn)現(xiàn)代化研究的國際交流與合作，促進(jìn)現(xiàn)代化建設(shè)和現(xiàn)代化科學(xué)的發(fā)展。
本次論壇主題是“現(xiàn)代化與全球變化”，包括以下五項(xiàng)議題：現(xiàn)代化與世界經(jīng)濟(jì)、現(xiàn)代化與全球公民社會、現(xiàn)代化與環(huán)境變化、現(xiàn)代化與區(qū)域發(fā)展、現(xiàn)代化與城市化。第五個(gè)議題（現(xiàn)代化與城市化），也是第十一期中國現(xiàn)代化研究論壇的主題。
本次論壇的學(xué)術(shù)委員會，由33位國際著名專家組成；其中，國外專家21人，國內(nèi)專家12人。他們來自12個(gè)國家，包括美國、英國、德國、意大利和俄羅斯等。
